So I've had some trouble with the name "Evanescent-Chaos" ever since I came up with it. Apparently no one remembers that it was a word before the band Evanescence came out. My twitter and DeviantART were plagued with Evanescence fansites and folks thinking that I posted a lot about the band. While I profess to having a liking for the band's early works, I don't have anything to do with them really. So I'm attempting a name change, to "Wonderland Chaos".

I can't however change my name on DeviantART without paying for it, which I will not do. So for now, while the name on the account is "Evanescent-Chaos" the watermarks are going to be coming in as "Wonderland Chaos" for the time being.

Just to clear up any confusion, not that any one really pays attention to that stuff, other than me. =)

EDIT: 9/8/14 Screw it. Back to "Evanescent."

Keep it simple. Keep it natural. It looks freakin' weird when you've got a great model and an unnatural pose. It's so offsetting.

I very much appreciate all of the favorites (and I guess to a lesser extent llama, since those just confuse me), but I think I'm going to stop going to everyone's individual pages and thanking them for them. Its a lot of work! I will still however go to your gallery and check it out instead. I feel that's a better use of my time, to check out your stuff and hopefully favourite something in return, instead of a useless, generic, thank you.

So, cheers!

Where's the art in DeviantART? I'm glad DA is accessible for people of all ages and skills, but I'm really tired of seeing people's MySpace/Facebook crap photos on here, and not seeing anything of quality.

I'm also tired of snot-nose punk kids who don't have half a brain between all of them registered on the site, asking stupid questions they can't even spell.

I miss the old quality DA.

I was going through some deviations from my groups, when I came across one where the artist had written in the description

"If you favourite, COMMENT."

Now, obviously its not a demand the artist can enforce. But it got me wondering: who are we the artists to demand things of those who take the time to view our work? Honestly, if I had people looking at my work, I'd be satisfied they were taking the time to look at it. If they took the time and "effort" to favourite it, I'd be thrilled! But from my perspective, its not my place to make "demands" of the people who could very well just have not have taken the time to look at my work. Besides, sometimes, if you like it you like it. You don't always have something to say about it. Personally I'd rather not have someone comment if its just a one word comment. If you take the time to comment, shouldn't it be something at least halfway thoughtful? Is it just me? What do you, the reader of this journal think?

The photo the author had posted was decent. Your typical portrait shot. It was nice, but there was no wow.  I didn't favourite it. It wasn't worth a comment.

Computer died. Time for something new. I've been a PC user all my life, but Vista kills me. I know Seven is supposed to be a huge improvement, and maybe it is, but its time to go Macintosh. Most of the careers I'm considering use mac anyway, so I might as well learn to use it now. Problem: even with student discounts its bleeding expensive. Problem: Its not too long before the school year. Not a lot of time to learn to use it properly.

C'est la vie.

I'm excited to be entering this contest. To even have a very slight chance to have my photos judged by the great Anton Corbijn is fantastic! I'm excited about the photos and can't wait to see who wins!

Anyway all the pics from my epic August of '09 are up. Next to go is a photoshoot with my friend Misty, a cosplayer, and then time to edit pictures taken from my new "home" of Ashland. I'm getting ready for a photo contest here on campus so feedback on that set of pics is going to be much loved. After those pics, I've got to edit some pics from a roller derby bout I got to shoot, and stuff from my ill-fated photography class.

I'm hoping spring break will let me get in ahead with all this and maybe even finish so I've got a clean slate for my Digital Media Foundations class where I'll be learning photography and graphic design basics. So excited! Its going to be a lot of work and I'm terrified, but ready!

Years ago before I joined DeviantART I found a picture on the site that I loved!

I didn't save it.....

T_T

I really want to find it, so that I can favorite it and find other stuff by the same artist. But I can't remember what it was called or who it was by.... something like "three libras" or "tres libras" keeps coming up in my head.

The picture was of a woman in what looked like the hallway of a hotel. She was leaning against the wall, wearing leg warmers.

I see it perfectly in my mind, but I just can't figure out how to find it.

Don't you just hate that?

My mother, GothPuppy76 just uploaded the pictures she took of me during our last photoshoot! Their really good, check them out! She used a lot of neat techniques and gadgets including something called an Orbis.

Great Depeche Mode concert in Seattle! The boys sounded great! I bet they looked great too but I got stuck behind like 5 tall MF'ers who stood with their arms in the air the whole time, so that poor 5 ft tall me and my mother couldn't see anything the whole time! Not even most of the screen behind them! But I stood rather painfully on my tip toes the entire time hoping for a glimpse of a body part, and got it sometimes. I did manage to get a a couple shots that I can't wait to edit and upload. The best news is though, that I get to see them in Phoenix now too! It turns out that they are playing at the same time we're visiting my grandparents there so my Dad is letting us go again! This time in stadium seating so we can see them! I hope to be able to take pics there too, but I don't know the camera policy.

In the meantime we've been traveling the west, and I've been getting some great shots! Eastern Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, the Budwieser Beer Brewing Factory in Fort Collins, New Mexico, Arizona, The Chiricahua Mountains, & Tombstone. Next up is Phoenix, and San Fransisco California, Southern Oregon, and finally home!

Exciting no?

So while you wait for me to get to a place I can upload, take some time to check out DepecheModeFans right here on DA!

So in almost exactly a month I get to go to my first Depeche Mode concert at the Key Arena in Seattle! I'm so excited for this! I've been waiting years to see them, and can finally cross off one of my life's goals.

Now I've been looking around this site a bit, and quite a few deviants have concert pictures (the ones I've seen particularly from Depeche Mode) and I'd love to know how you got your cameras in if you aren't press type people. I went to the Key Arena website, and all they said was that it was up to the performers what kinds of  cameras were allowed if at all. There's nothing on the official website so I'd love to hear your guys' thoughts.

IF I do manage to get my camera in, any tips for concert photography? Such as ISO, aperature, shutter speed, etc?

Love and Peace!
